Jul 21, 2022 | 10:25 AM

SUGAR GROVE, Ky. — State police said two people died in a Butler County crash on Tuesday afternoon.

The crash happened just around 1 p.m. near the 20 mile marker of Interstate 165 – formerly the William H. Natcher Parkway. Two vehicles were involved.

A preliminary investigation revealed Angel B. Perez, 38, of Louisville, was driving a tractor trailer in the northbound lanes. The truck hit a dump truck that was stopped in traffic near a construction zone at mile marker 20. The truck and trailer came to rest on the right side of the roadway, according to a news release. It caught fire at that point.

James Gilbert, 43, of Bowling Green, was inside the dump truck. Both men were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

The investigation is ongoing.
