Warren East scored three of its four runs in the final two innings Tuesday, and beat Barren County, 4-2. The Trojans won the first meeting of the two-day 15th District showdown Monday, 4-1.
Barren jumped ahead 2-0 in the first inning, but could not plate another run after that. Colten Wilson hit a one-out single in the bottom of the first to start the rally. Wilson moved to second on a wild pitch before scoring on a ball hit by Jaxon Pierce. Pierce registered a single, but moved to third on an error in the outfield. Gavin Coffey drove in Pierce with a single.
The Raiders got back a run in the top of the third, and the game stayed at 2-1, Trojans, until the top of the sixth. There East scored a run to tie the game 2-2.
In the top of the seventh East took the lead on a sacrifice fly, then added another run for insurance.
The Trojans had a shot to get on the board again when Price Thompson led off the bottom of the seventh with a single. But a strike out and two fly outs ended the game.
Barren and East are both 1-1 in 15th District action. The Trojans take on Allen County-Scottsville next Monday and Tuesday in its next district series. Warren East takes on Glasgow on those two days.
Cameron Crawford pitched the first five innings for the Trojans. He allowed four hits, struck out four and walked three. Dylan Poynter closed the game at allowed four hits, struck out two and walk two.
Wilson led Barren at the plate with a pair of hits, while Pierce, Coffey and Thompson each posted a hit.
Barren, 10-10 overall, hosts Monroe County on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. in a non-district contest.
