NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Authorities are searching for a man who allegedly shot and injured a police officer Monday evening in Hendersonville.

Authorities said Samuel Edwards, 34, is wanted for attempted criminal homicide and evading arrest. The charges stem from an incident Monday when the suspect fired on a police car during a pursuit along Vietnam Veterans Parkway in Nashville.

“He should be considered armed and extremely dangerous,” according to a Tennessee Bureau of Investigation notice.

Edwards abandoned a van he was driving and switched to a white 2009 Chevy Silverado. He allegedly stole the truck from a driveway of a nearby home. The keys had been left inside the vehicle, police said.

Police suspect he may still be in the truck. It has front bumper damage, no grille and various dents. It possesses a Tennessee license plate with number 88FW55.

Edwards has brown hair and brown eyes. He is 5 feet 11 inches and weighs 160 pounds.

Anyone with information is urged to call 911 or 1-800-TBI-FIND.
