Linda Faye Appleby, 78, Glasgow, passed away peacefully Thursday, September 17, 2026 at the Shanti Niketan Hospice Home. A native of Metcalfe County, she was the daughter of the late Arthur Cecil Poynter and Clemteen England Poynter.
After retiring from the Dana Corporation, Linda became a caregiver and was a “Mother” figure to many. She truly enjoyed the sunshine as evidenced by her gardening and tending to her flowers. She was a member of the Glasgow Faith Church where she was also a member of the “Ladies of Faith”.
Survivors include her husband Donald; two daughters: Jerri Faye Jessie (Ryan) of Glasgow and Tammy Wallace (Tim) of Horse Cave; four grandchildren: Tyler Bragg (Lauren) of Park City, Sarah Faye Asbury (Adam) of Center, Megan Bryant (Isaac) of Rineyville, and Jared Wallace (Casandra) of Bowling Green; five brothers: Von Poynter of Columbus, Indiana, Roger Poynter (Judy), Terry Poynter (Linda), and Ronnie Poynter (Priscilla) all of Glasgow, and Donnie Poynter (Donna) of Smiths Grove; five great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews including Kelly and Angela Poynter; along with a multitude of friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Patricia Poynter, and four brothers: Ed Poynter, Glenn Poynter, Louie Poynter, and Winford Poynter.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Glasgow Faith Church with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home and after 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Alternate expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
