Lockshield Partners is recognizing two Barren County High School seniors with its annual Arthur Cotton Memorial Scholarships.

The Glasgow-based financial services firm awarded $1,500 scholarships to Andrew Chapman and Lucy Zalla.

Each year, Lockshield Partners presents two $1,500 Arthur Cotton Memorial Scholarships to students at the Barren County Area Technology Center. The scholarships are named in honor of Arthur Cotton, the late father of Lockshield Partners Operations Manager Jodi Walden.

Students applying for the scholarships are asked to answer a question about the long-term impact that an individual’s financial decisions can have on their family and the surrounding community. The prompt is designed to encourage students to think critically about personal finance and its ripple effects beyond their own lives.

This year’s recipients both attend Barren County High School.

Andrew Chapman, the son of Mark and Dana Chapman, is a senior who plans to attend the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. He intends to major in public relations with a minor in pre-law studies and later attend law school. Chapman also plans to earn his real estate license while in college.

Fellow senior Lucy Zalla will attend Cumberland University this fall, where she plans to major in marketing and compete on the university’s golf team. Zalla has been active in FBLA, Pep Club and the varsity golf team, where she has played for seven years. She was selected for the Governor’s Scholars Program and the Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership Conference. In addition to her academic and athletic plans, Lucy also hopes to earn her real estate license while in college.

In a separate recognition, Lockshield Partners was honored with the 2026 CTE Legacy Award for Business during the Barren County ATC Awards Night on May 7. The award recognizes individuals and partners in industry and education who have made a lasting impact on career and technical education in Barren County.
