Glasgow police say a woman in the community lost more than $150,000 in an organized financial scam carried out over a two-week period.
According to the Glasgow Police Department, the victim reported this week that she had been targeted in what investigators describe as an organized financial scheme.
Officials say more than $150,000 was taken from her during the course of two weeks.
On Aug. 12, members of the Glasgow Police Department Criminal Investigation Division and Patrol Division joined with the Barren River Drug Task Force and the Kentucky State Police for an enforcement operation.
Officers arranged to intercept a suspect as he attempted to meet the victim in the Family Dollar parking lot. There they arrested Akashdeep Singh
Police say Singh admitted driving across the country for the purpose of carrying out the scam.
Singh is charged with engaging in organized crime and theft by deception over $10,000.
He is being held at the Barren County Detention Center on a $150,000 cash bond.
Additional charges are pending in the case.
Detective Allen Ward made the arrest, with assistance from the Barren River Drug Task Force and the Kentucky State Police.
This remains an active case and that more arrests are expected.
