A Glasgow man who admitted to federal meth trafficking charges in Barren County will have to wait longer to learn his sentence.
According to court documents filed in the Western District of Kentucky, George Albert Thompson pleaded guilty in April 2026 to three counts of distributing methamphetamine.
Thompson was originally indicted by a federal grand jury in August 2025 on three narcotics trafficking counts tied to Barren County.
The indictment and plea agreement say Thompson was charged under Title 21 of the U.S. Code, which covers federal drug offenses and related forfeiture provisions.
As part of his plea, Thompson admitted distributing methamphetamine on three separate occasions in Barren County.
Prosecutors say the sales occurred on Nov. 12, 2023, Nov. 17, 2023, and March 13, 2024.
Court records state Thompson distributed 292.1 grams of methamphetamine in the first transaction and 435 grams in the second.
In the third transaction, he admitted distributing 1,295.9 grams of methamphetamine.
In all, the plea agreement indicates Thompson acknowledged distributing more than 2 kilograms of meth.
Federal prosecutors also are seeking forfeiture of any property and proceeds tied to the drug offenses.
Under the statutes cited in the plea agreement, Thompson faces a combined mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years in prison and a maximum of life. He also faces a potential maximum fine of $30 million and at least five years of supervised release, which could extend for life if ordered by the court.
An additional prison term could be imposed if he violates conditions of supervised release.
Thompson had initially been scheduled to be sentenced in July 2026, but that hearing has been continued.
His sentencing is now set for Sept. 29 in U.S. District Court for the Western District of Kentucky.
