A Barren County man has pleaded guilty to leaving the scene of a crash without rendering aid and wanton endangerment charges.

Barry Sexton pleaded guilty to the amended charges of first-degree wanton endangerment — a class D felony — and leaving the scene of an accident without rendering aid — a class A misdemeanor — on March 13 , according to his court file. Sexton was sentenced to 5 years of pretrial diversion, after which his charges will be dismissed if he successfully completes it, according to his plea agreement.

The plea also stipulated that he will obtain a GED during the pretrial diversion and have no contact with the injured party or her family.

The guilty plea stems from Sexton’s 2025 case where he was arrested by Barren County sheriff’s deputies after his vehicle crashed on Matthews Mill Road. A female passenger was injured and later flown to Skyline Medical Center in Tennessee, according to prior reporting.
