STAFF REPORT
Glasgow News 1
The Caverna Independent School District Board of Education is set to meet Thursday evening with an agenda that blends routine approvals with several decisions that could shape staffing, compensation and the district’s financial posture moving forward.
The board will convene at 5 p.m. at the district’s central office, beginning with approval of the agenda, the Pledge of Allegiance and an opportunity for public comment.
Much of the early portion of the meeting will center on reports from Superintendent Amanda Abell, including student and staff recognitions.
Board members will then move through several consent items, including approval of minutes from the March meeting, financial reports and activity funds, along with routine matters such as bus inspections, travel requests and student-related activities like fundraisers and field trips.
Also included is a proposed transfer of $50,000 from a committed general fund account back into the uncommitted fund, citing the absence of a specific project tied to those dollars.
Beyond routine business, several discussion and action items point to broader planning efforts within the district.
The board is expected to consider an amended 2025–2026 school calendar and enter into a discussion on staffing allocations, a topic that often reflects shifting enrollment, program needs and budget considerations.
Compensation will also be a key focus of the meeting.
Among the proposals is a $250 per-semester stipend for teachers offering dual credit courses. The board will also consider extending the district’s salary schedules out to 30 years for both classified and certified staff.
Additional items include a proposed stipend for employees who obtain advanced degrees such as an Education Specialist or Doctor of Education, as well as a yet-to-be-determined percentage raise for district staff.
