GLASGOW — Freddie Travis, a former Barren County Judge Executive and Glasgow Board of Education chairperson, has died. He was 87.
He had an extensive background in community service, including his tenure as county judge executive from 1998 to 2002, according to his obituary. He also served as president of the Glasgow Chamber of Commerce, chairperson and co-founder of the Industrial Development Economic Authority, chairperson of the Glasgow Independent Schools’ Board of Education and several other organizations.
Travis is survived by Carey S. Oliver Travis, his wife of 57 years; a son Scott Travis; and daughter Lynn T. Littrell. He is also survived by a host of grandchildren and others.
A memorial service in honor of Travis is scheduled at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 12 at the First Christian Church in Glasgow. Visitation is Monday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at A.F. Crow and Son Funeral Home.
