GLASGOW, Ky. — Halloween festivities begin across the area Friday, and the Glasgow Police Department is urging the community to be safe in their celebrations.

The Glasgow Police Department is hosting at its headquarters a Halloween trick-or-treat event Friday. The event will give children the chance to interact with law enforcement and stash some extra candy in their bag.

“We will be handing candy and treats here at the police department,” Flatt said. “Also, it gives your child or whoever is trick-or-treating to get a photo with a police officer.”

The event is from 4 – 6 p.m. The Glasgow Police Department is located at 101 Pin Oak Lane in Glasgow.

A drive through event will happen at Gorin Park from 2 – 5 p.m. Saturday. The event will be like the one last year, which was held in place of the typical city-wide festivities.

Glasgow’s city-wide Halloween festivities were canceled last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Sunday is Halloween, and festivities will be observed Sunday evening from 4:30 – 7 p.m.

Flatt said parents should be prepared to check their child’s candy before they eat it. Some candy may be tampered with and could contain undesirable consequences if a child consumes it.

“Always check the candy you may get through the night,” Flatt said. “Check it, and make sure it’s packaged before you’re eating it.”

City streets are not closed during the festive hours, but motorists should be aware of children and families crossing Glasgow’s streets.

“If you’re walking down any roadway, stay on the sidewalk and stay out of the traffic,” Flatt said.
