Police say a Glasgow woman’s report of an assault led officers to find multiple firearms inside a Harwood Street apartment and arrest a convicted felon.
According to a uniform citation from the Glasgow Police Department, the woman came to the department on Aug. 29 to report an assault that she said happened the night before. She told officers her ex-boyfriend, identified as Blake Schultz, had several firearms in the home at 103 Harwood Street and that he was a convicted felon.
Police reported that a criminal history check on Schultz confirmed he was a convicted felon. The woman reportedly told police they could go to the residence and see the firearms, which she said Schultz kept in the bedroom closet the two shared.
Officers went with the woman to the apartment. Inside the closet, Herzog reported seeing two rifles and a handgun.
Officers tried to contact Schultz throughout the day on Aug. 29 and reached him several times by phone. Around 5:05 p.m., officers were told he might have returned to the apartment, according to the uniform citation.
Police say they went back to the residence and could see window blinds move and hear noises coming from inside the apartment. According to the citation, after officers issued several warnings and threatened to send in a K-9, Schultz complied and came out with his hands up.
Officers reported that Schultz was placed under arrest at that time.
Schultz is charged with possession of a handgun by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
The arrest was made by officer Jared Herzog.
