Mrs. Bessie Lois (Finley) Smith of Burkesville, Kentucky passed away Friday, May 28, 2021, at the Cumberland Valley Manor in Burkesville, Kentucky, having attained the age of 85 years, 2 months, and 15 days. She was born in Burkesville, Kentucky on Friday, March 13, 1936, the daughter of Walter and Lula (Coop) Finley. She was of Methodist faith, a member of Chestnut Grove United Methodist Church, worked as a waitress for several years, and was a homemaker.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Roy Finley, Cecil Finley, Noel Finley, and sisters, Mary Deel, Velda Hoots, and Grace Huddleston.
She is survived by her husband, James Howard Smith of Burkesville, Kentucky, whom she wed, Saturday, August 17, 1957, and several nieces and nephews.
The Funeral will be conducted on Tuesday, June 1, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. in The Memory Chapel of Norris-New Funeral Home with Bro. Nathan Boils officiating. Burial will be in the Christian Chapel Cemetery in Cumberland County, Kentucky. The family will receive friends after 5:00 p.m. on Monday, May 31, 2021, at Norris-New Funeral Home until the funeral hour on Tuesday.
