GLASGOW, Ky. — The Glasgow Electric Plant Board will part ways with its variable rate structure June 1 for residential and small commercial customers. The utility and cable provider also announced a change coming to its channel lineup next month.
The Glasgow Electric Plant Board of Directors moved at their last meeting to send a proposed rate structure to the Tennessee Valley Authority. That structure eliminates coincident demand and time of use charges. The customer charge also decreases.
A seasonal flat rate worth 10.3 cents will be charged to customers using electricity within the GEPB’s service area.
The non-volumetric electric model was implemented more than five years ago.
Customers should expect to see the rate differences reflected on their July bills. The structure will be implemented June 1, according to information released by the utility.
In other news, the cable programming committee of the GEPB voted unanimously at its May 6 meeting to cut ties with AMC Network. The change will occur June 9.
“The move comes after the current agreement to carry the programmer’s networks expired on May 1, 2021 and was reasoned by the committee as a move to help keep cable costs from rising further,” a news release said.
A cable survey issued online revealed a majority of customers had little interest or monetary value in the AMC Network.
Several channels will be eliminated, including channels 44 and 574, American Movie Channel (AMC); channel 42, Women’s Entertainment TV (WE-TV); channel 81, Sundance TV; channel 82, International Film Channel (IFC); and channel 115, British Broadcasting Corporation – America (BBC).
