Joanne Adkins Decker, age 73, of Brownsville, departed this life on Saturday, October 3, 2020 in Bowling Green. The Louisville, KY native was born on November 11, 1946 to the late Samuel Adkins, Sr. and Dorothy Louise Adkins. She was married to her husband of fifty years, Larry Decker, who survives.
Joanne was a teachers’ assistant for Edmonson County Schools and was known as “Ms. Joanne” by her students. She was a member of Brownsville Missionary Baptist Church.
Besides her husband, she leaves to honor her memory– two sons, Bill Decker (Stacie) of Chalybeate and Wayne Decker (Tim) of Smiths Grove; one daughter, Kim Purcell of Smiths Grove; four grandchildren, Christian Decker, Cameron Decker (fiancée, Grayson Sizemore), Abigail Purcell and Aidan Purcell; one brother, Fred Adkins of Bee Spring; one sister, Linda VanMeter (Sherbert) of Bee Spring and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Frank Adkins.
Funeral services for Joanne Adkins Decker will be at 1 pm, Wednesday, October 7 at Brownsville Missionary Baptist Church.
Interment will be in Jock Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 12 – 7 pm, Tuesday at Patton Funeral Home Brownsville Chapel
And from 10 – 1 pm, Wednesday at the Brownsville Missionary Baptist Church
