Mrs. Mary Ruth (Wright) Smith Burns, of Burkesville, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, September 24, 2020 at her residence in Burkesville, Kentucky having attained the age of 78 years, 3 months, and 19 days. She was born on Friday, June 5, 1942, in Burkesville, Kentucky, the daughter of Orvil and Sallie (Groce) Wright. She was of the Methodist faith, was a member of the Providence United Methodist Church, and was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Bro. Noel Smith, brothers, Creed Thomas Norris, Bobby Wright, Jackie Creed Norris, son-in-law, Shelby Spears.
She is survived by her husband, Arthur Burns, whom she wed on Saturday, December 5, 2015, children, Mary Jo Spears of Marrowbone, Kentucky, Terri (& Jamie) Howard of Burkesville, Kentucky, Jessica (& Jerry) Shoopman of Burkesville, Kentucky, Pat (& Kathy) Burns of Burkesville, Kentucky, Bill (& Jenny) Burns of Burkesville, Kentucky, Tammy (& Michael) Gladden of Hardyville, Kentucky, Pam (& Willie) Polston of Burkesville, Kentucky, siblings, Donald (& Jan) Wright of Brandon Florida, Rondal (& Carol) Wright of Indiana, Cathy (& Jerry) Armstrong of Burkesville, Kentucky, grandchildren, Michael Spears, Leticia Cypers, Amanda Baker, Chelsea Shoopman, Tyler Shoopman, great grand children, Tobie Bean, Matthew Spears, Trenton Bean, Andrew Spears, Allie Cyphers.
The funeral service will be conducted on Sunday, September 27, 2020 in the Memory Chapel of Norris-New Funeral Home with Brother Donnie Shelley, Bro Gary Cash, and Bro. Matthew Spears officiating. Burial will follow in the Dutch Creek Cemetery in Cumberland County, Kentucky. The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 26, 2020 from 2:00 p.m. till the funeral hour on Sunday.
