John Hubbard Cantine, 76, of Glasgow, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on September 13, 2026. Born on September 10, 1950, in Lansing, Michigan, to the late Clarence and Virginia Cantine, John lived a life marked by deep devotion to his faith, his family, and his career.
John graduated from Holt High School in Holt, Michigan, in 1968, and went on to obtain his bachelor’s degree from Central Michigan University in 1972. That same year, he began a long and successful career with Dart Container Corporation in Mason, Michigan. In 1979, he advanced his career by moving to Horse Cave, Kentucky, to facilitate the building and opening of a new Dart Container Corporation branch. At that time, he moved his young family to Glasgow, Kentucky, where he continued in management with Dart until his retirement in December 2013.
A faithful servant to God, John was a member of Glenview Christian Church. Away from work and church, he was an avid car enthusiast and a passionate reader. Above all, the true joy of his life was spending time with his wife and family. He delighted in attending all school and sporting events for his grandchildren, vacationing with his family, traveling to car races and swap-meets with his brother and son, and taking spontaneous day trips with his wife.
John is survived by his devoted wife of 53 years, Karen Cantine; his children, Matthew Cantine (Emily) of Lynn Haven, FL, and Heidi Bennett (Jeremy) of Glasgow, KY; and his special daughter, Amy Cantine of Port St.Joe, FL. He was a proud and loving grandfather to his four grandchildren: Jackson Bennett (“Tall Jack”), Tyler Bennett (“Moose”), Hudson Cantine, and Lucas Cantine. He is also survived by his brother, Barry Cantine (Daryl) of Charlotte, MI; his special brother-in-law, Arthur Osterwald (Nel) of Grand Rapids, MI; as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Virginia Cantine.
A celebration of John’s life will be held at a later date for immediate family members. His warmth, love, and legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
