Glasgow native receives honor

Glasgow native Ashley Weaver has been awarded the Honorary State FFA Degree during a special ceremony at the 97th State FFA Convention in Lexington, according to Kentucky FFA.

The Honorary State FFA Degree is given to adults who have made a significant contribution to the state association. State FFA officials say past recipients have included several Kentucky governors, leaders in agriculture and education, and individuals who have supported the organization over multiple years.

Weaver serves as finance and grant manager for the Kentucky FFA Foundation.

Foundation Executive Director Sheldon McKinney said every dollar that is given to the Kentucky FFA Foundation and awarded to members and chapters is touched by Weaver. McKinney praised her trusted knowledge, attention to detail and commitment to the mission of Kentucky FFA, calling her work an integral part of the foundation’s growth and adding that the organization is thankful for her efforts.

Kentucky FFA is made up of more than 25,000 middle and high school students enrolled in agricultural education courses. The organization currently has 195 chapters in 115 counties across the state including Barren County and Glasgow High Schools.
