Like they did Monday, the Trojans jumped ahead of the Scotties, 3-0, in the first inning. Unlike the first game, though, Barren made the lead stick en route to an 8-4, 15th District victory.
Glasgow rallied Monday at home to win 9-3. At home Tuesday, the Trojans got a lead-off single from Jax Vincent in the bottom of the first. Colten Wilson followed with a single, then Jaxon Pierce hit a ground ball that was misplayed. That allowed Vincent to score from second base.
After a pair of outs, Barren added two more runs. Wilson and Pierce had each moved up a base on a passed ball. That set up Cameron Crawford for a single that drove in Pierce. Crawford reached second on the throw to the infield and Wilson scored.
The Trojans added a run in the bottom of the second after loading the bases with a trio of singles from Dylan Poynter, Landon Uhles and Vincent. Wilson grounded into a fielder’s choice and Poynter scored.
Glasgow got out of the jam by turning a double play. Huston Haynes caught a fly ball and threw home to get the runner out there who was trying to score on a tag-up.
The Trojans scored the rest of their runs in the bottom of the third inning.
Gavin Coffey led off with a double. After an out, Crawford nailed a single and Coffey moved to third. Price Thompson drove in Coffey with a single. Poynter drove in Crawford with a single. Then Uhles drove in Bracy Faught, who was running for Thompson, with a single. After another out, Poynter scored on a single by Wilson.
The Scotties finally got on the board with a solo home run by Hudson Gumm in the top of the fifth inning.
Their other three runs came on a 3-run homer by Braylen Caldwell in the top of the sixth.
Thomas Glass drew a lead-off walk. Steven Garrett followed with a single, then Caldwell slapped the bomb with no outs.
Crawford pitched the distance for the Trojans. He allowed eight hits, struck out three and walked two.
Keaton Haynes started for Glasgow. Garrett and Garett Shields each also pitched. They combined to allow 12 hits, strike out eight and walk two.
Uhles, Poynter, Crawford and Vincent each posted two hits to lead Barren at the plate. Wilson, Coffey, Thompson and Potter each had a hit.
For Glasgow, Gumm, Caldwell, and Keaton Haynes each posted two hits, while Garrett and Huston Haynes also had a hit.
With the win, Barren improved to 3-3 in 15th District action, while Glasgow fell to 2-4. Warren East swept Allen County-Scottsville in two games Monday and Tuesday and will be one seed in the district tournament that begins May 18 at East, and Barren will be the No. 2 seed.
The tiebreaker for the three and four seeds went three levels deep. Glasgow and Allen split their two games and they each gave up eight runs in those two games. The RPI determined the seeding, which sets the Scotties as the three seed and the Patriots as the four seed.
