The loss dropped the Lady Scotties to 1-4 in district action and 7-11 overall. The Lady Patriots improved to 5-0 in district play and 17-7 overall.
Allen County scored three runs in the top of the third inning off four hits, a walk and a hit-by-pitch. It added its fourth run in the top of the fourth to lead 4-0. From there, though, Glasgow pitcher Ayvah Maxey and the defense kept the game close.
In the bottom of the fifth, the Lady Scotties threatened when Kenleigh Bale hit a one-out single. Kerrigan Hagan hit a two-out double and Bale tried to score on the hit. A great throw from center field beat her to the plate for the third out of the inning.
In the bottom of the sixth Glasgow got back a run. Jakylie Green hit a one-out single. Then Reece England followed with a single, but the defense was able to get Green out at going to second.
England took second base on a wild pitch before Paige De Haas nailed a single that scored England.
Glasgow scored its second run in the bottom of the seventh inning. NaTaya Lightfoot led off with a single. She stole second base, then moved to third on a ground out by Bale. Hagan drove Bale in with a single, but a ground out ended the Lady Scotties’ rally.
Maxey pitched the distance. She allowed nine hits, struck out five and walked four.
Glasgow posted 10 hits in the game. Hagan, Green and Lightfoot each posted two hits, while England, De Haas, Bale and Kayla Kirkpatrick each had a hit.
