Alma Jean (Jessie) Sexton, Metcalfe County

Feb 25, 2026 | 8:08 AM

Alma Jean (Jessie) Sexton passed away on February 24th, 2026, at TJ Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow, KY, while surrounded by members of her loving family. She was born in Metcalfe County on April 17th, 1938, to Joe Henry and Minnie Mae (Compton) Jessie as their 5th child. She was married on December 20th, 1952, and raised a family with Ollis Bradley Sexton, also of Metcalfe County.

She worked for many years as a seamstress and during that time became a renowned quilter, whose work has been displayed across the US in countless homes and public spaces. This was all while founding and operating M&J Quilting with her sister, Margaret Ramey, in 1988. They operated together up until and even some after her cancer diagnosis and treatments began in 2021.

Quick with her wit and sharp as a tack, she provided her family and friends with wonderful memories, mountains of love, and the best fried chicken this side of Heaven. Always there with help for anyone who needed it and a devout, Bible-believing member of Price’s Creek Missionary Baptist Church, she spread goodness and warmth wherever she was.

She is survived by a daughter, Deborah Buchanan (Roger), a son, Billy Sexton (Lisa); two grandsons, Brad Buchanan (Erin) and Scott Buchanan (Anna); two granddaughters, Morgan Leitner (Jacob) and Abigail Sexton; and two great-grandchildren, John Buchanan (Haley) and Lilly Buchanan. She is also survived by three sisters; Margaret Ramey (Roscoe-D), Elsie Isenberg (Charles-D), Linda Cannon (Wayne), and two brothers; Manual Jessie (Harriet-D) and Danny Jessie (Debbie).

She was preceded in death by both of her parents, her beloved husband, four sisters; Blanche Greer (Stanley-D), Edna Sexton (Coy-D), Mildred Smith and Catherine Chapman, as well as a brother, Samuel Jessie (Lavinia-D).

She will be deeply missed as a loving sister, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend to many in the community.

Visitation will be at the Jessie-Wilson Funeral Home in Edmonton, KY on Thursday, February 26, 2026, from 4:00-8:00pm and will continue Friday until 12:00pm at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm Friday February 27, 2026, at Prices Creek Missionary Baptist Church.

Bro. Danny Sexton and Bro. Matt Sexton will be officiating, and pallbearers will be Brad Buchanan, Scott Buchanan, John Buchanan, Jacob Leitner, Garry Sexton, and John Michael Smith.
