The Barren County Schools Board of Education tabled the sale of property near Red Cross Elementary during its regular monthly meeting Thursday night at the district’s central office. Director of Pupil Personnel Anthony Frazier asked board members to table the sale until more details can be worked out with the state.

Finance Director Joe Murley explained at October’s school board meeting that .17 acres of property near Red Cross Elementary would be sold to the state of Kentucky and be used by the transportation cabinet for construction to improve portions of Ky. 1297. Murley had said the district was approached by the state about the property

Last night he agreed with Frazier that more details need to be finalized before the sale could proceed.

“We’ll get that cleaned up and get that back on the next agenda,” Frazier said of the property sale.

The school board were also recognized for their dedication to the district and they elected Shelly Key Groce to keep serving as chairman and Mike Miller as vice chairman. Groce and Miller thanked the school district for giving them the opportunity to serve the community.

“No better honor to serve with all of you folks up here with us,” Groce said to fellow board members and district leaders.
