Martha Ann Kinser, 81, of Bee Spring, Kentucky, passed away on September 22, 2026. She was born August 17, 1945, to the late Eula and Walton Wood.
Martha was both a mother and a father to her daughters, Kristina Denham and Kim Kinser. The three of them formed an all-female household, where they learned to do just about everything together. She taught her daughters how to drive in the snow, paint a house inside and out, mow the yard, work hard, and protect themselves. More than anything, she instilled in them independence, fearlessness, and the ability to meet any task head-on.
Martha was a devoted member of the Bee Spring Community. She loved her friends and neighbors and, true to her nature, loved to talk. She knew their children and grandchildren, asked about their lives, offered a helping hand, and made sure no one felt like a stranger. Her neighbors always looked forward to her annual Christmas food baskets, which she delivered on Christmas morning. She also spent many years as a youth counselor at Great Onyx Job Corps, where she formed meaningful relationships with both staff and the young people she worked with. She took the time to know the students, encourage them, and help them see what they were capable of. Those relationships meant a great deal to her.
Their family was small, but Martha made it larger through the friendships she built throughout her life. Kristina and Kim grew up spending weekends with her longtime friends and their children, many of whom became lifelong friends and extended family. She showed them the value of being a good friend and neighbor, and taught them that family can be created through the people we choose to love and care for.
She is survived by her daughters, Kristina Denham and Kim Kinser; granddaughters, Emily and Callie Denham; sister, Sue Stewart; nephews, Jeff and Lee Ashley and Jeremy Stewart; and niece, Tracy Stewart. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son-in-law, Wes Denham, and her sister, Mary Jo Johnson.
She will be remembered for her strength, her independence, her willingness to help others, and the community and extended family she created wherever she went.
