Magistrates approved to pay a nearly half-a-million dollar invoice during their recent Barren County Fiscal Court meeting.
The $475,070.94 invoice from Intech Contracting was for work on the Siddens Road bridge that crosses over Beaver Creek to the southwest of Glasgow. Intech Contracting is based in Lexington and “specializes in bridge repair and restoration” among other services.
At the meeting, Barren County Judge-Executive Jamie Bewley Byrd said these funds were coming from the $751,319 given to the county by the commonwealth out of the $25 million appropriated for “preventative bridge maintenance.”
Magistrate Marty Kinslow said it looked “wonderful” and will look “basically brand new” after the work is completed.
On Aug. 22, Glasgow-Barren County Emergency Management announced that the bridge was reopened to traffic after it was closed for roughly 60 days for the repair work.
Siddens Road connects Old Bowling Green Road and Finney Road.
