Dedontae Morrison did not appear in circuit court Monday, Dec. 16, for a pretrial conference. He is still awaiting a mental evaluation, which was requested in May.

Morrison is charged in the stabbing death of 55-year-old Robert Fields in a house off Lee Fendell Road on March 28, 2024.

Barren County Circuit Judge John Alexander scheduled Morrison’s next pretrial conference for Feb. 3 at 1 p.m. but was skeptical that any report would be done by that time.

Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney Krystal Cooper, who presented the case to Alexander for Commonwealth’s Attorney John Gardner, said the Kentucky Correctional Psychiatric center had a “long list” of evaluations and would likely get to Morrison’s between April and June.
