Erica Poynter Guffey, age 33, of Glasgow, peacefully departed this life on Sunday, July 19, 2026, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow. A native of Barren County, Erica was born on August 24, 1992, to her loving parents, Alicia Beckham and Eric Poynter, who survive.
Erica dedicated her career to caring for others, working as a pharmacy technician at Ely Drugs after previously serving as a certified medical assistant. Whether through her profession or in her personal life, caring for others came naturally to her. She possessed a compassionate heart, a gentle spirit, and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Above all else, Erica’s greatest joy and proudest accomplishment was being a mother. Her children were the center of her world, and every decision she made reflected the deep, unconditional love she had for them. She treasured every moment spent with them and created countless memories they will carry with them forever.
Erica found happiness in life’s simple pleasures. She adored her beloved cat, Oreo, took great pride in tending to her flower pots, and cherished the time she spent with her family and friends. She had a vibrant personality and wasn’t afraid to share her opinion, a quality that made her genuine, unforgettable, and dearly loved by those who knew her. Her laughter, caring heart, and honest spirit will be deeply missed. Erica was a member of Living Hope Baptist Church, where her faith in the Lord brought her comfort, strength, and hope. Though Erica’s time on earth was far too brief, the love she shared, the kindness she extended, and the devotion she had for her children and family will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know and love her.
She leaves to cherish her precious memory— her beloved children, Bryer Brown and Parker Brown of Smiths Grove, and Kollyns Guffey of Alvaton; her treasured parents, Alicia Beckham (Scott) of Alvaton and Eric Poynter (Colleen) of Glasgow; her grandparents, Jo Poynter (Leon) of Glasgow, Janice Rich of Cave City, and Don Rich (Nelva) of Bowling Green; her siblings, Samantha Clemmons (Billy) of Clarkson, Dylan Beckham (Mary Ann) of Lebanon, KY, Sadie Miller (Kolton) and Alex Poynter, both of Glasgow; her cherished nephews, Levi and Landon Clemmons, Henry Miller, and her soon-to-arrive nephew, Andrew Scott Beckham, along with many extended family members and dear friends who will forever treasure the love and memories they shared with her. In addition to those who survive her, Erica was preceded in death by her grandfather, Ernest Poynter, and her great-grandparents, Gelee “Ma” Jameson, Virgil T. and Irene Vance Grinstead, and Talbert and Maxine Poynter.
The interment will be in Walnut Hill Cemetery.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday, July 24, at Patton Funeral Home Park City Chapel. Visitation will be 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday, July 23, and Friday from 9 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
