Barbara Nell Doolin, 94, Glasgow, passed away Saturday, July 18, 2026 at the Glenview Health and Rehab Center. She was the daughter of the late Chester and Blanche Jones Coomer, and the wife of the late William Foster Doolin. She was known as “Nanny” to a great many people; she never met a stranger.
Nanny had formerly worked as a seamstress at Handmacher Fashions and later was employed in the dietary department of T J Samson Hospital. She was one who loved to go and be a part of the “Coffee Drinkers” at McDonalds; attend yard sales; and make various handcrafts. She was a member of the Combs Lane United Baptist Church and had attended Faith Community Church until her health prevented it.
Survivors include three daughters, Carolyn Johnson (Dennis), Christy Ballard (Patrick), and Sharon Kramer (Dale); ten grandchildren: Josh Fields, Jacob Fields (Eric), J T Johnson, Sarah Johnson, Lucas Kramer, Katie Fussenegger, Michael McClellan, Shane Ballard, Hunter Ballard, and Addie Ballard; several great-grandchildren, including Parker, Jackson, and Charlotte.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother James Coomer; and one daughter, Karen McClellan (Joe).
Nanny’s Family would like to thank the staff at Glenview Health & Rehab; they became her second family during the last four years.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday and continue Tuesday at the funeral home.
