Stella Stasel, age 95, of Munfordville, passed peacefully from this life on Friday July 3rd at her granddaughter’s home in Munfordville.

She was born on October 11, 1930, in the Center Point community of Hart County, to the late Johnnie and Hattie Mathis Sweet. She was raised in the simple and steady ways of country life. From an early age, Stella learned the value of hard work, family and trust in the Lord. These qualities became the foundation of the life she lived. She carried herself with quiet strength and a gentle spirit, and she was known throughout her life as a woman who could be counted on in times of need.

Stella believed in the goodness of God and sought to live each day in a manner that was proof of that. Her life reflected the virtues she held dear. She had a way of making people feel welcome and loved. She was a member of the Little Flock Baptist Church.

Stella endured a lot though-out her life and leaned on her Lord with the passing of several family members including her husband Cecil Stasel, children Carolyn Burleson, Arnold Stasel, Harold Stasel and Virginia Button; grandchildren Daniel Hawkins, Cain Horton and Justin Losgon; brothers Richard Sweet and Melvin Sweet and her sisters Delores Jean Jaggers, Wilma Alvey and Jeanetta Johnson Webb.

Family was on of the greatest joys of Stella’s life. She loved her children deeply and was proud of them all.

She is survived by her children, Barbara Childress, Ruby Horton(Junior), Janet Overstreet, and John Stasel(Mouse); she had over 70 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-grandchildren and an abundance of nieces and nephews.

Visitation for Stella Stasel will be Sunday from 3-8pm and Monday from 10am-2pm at the Sego Funeral Home. The funeral service will be 2pm Monday, July 6th in the chapel of Sego Funeral Home with Bro. Chuck Templeman officiating. Burial will be in the Little Flock Cemetery.
