Loretta Faye (Hale) Wheat, 67, of Tompkinsville, KY passed away Wednesday, July 1st, at Tri-Star Skyline Medical Center, in Nashville, TN. Loretta was born in Monroe County, KY on July 28, 1958, a daughter of Archie Hale, of Tompkinsville, KY and the late Ida Demple (Bow) Hale. She married Mark Wheat in Celina, TN on November 18, 1972. She was a member of Poplar Log Missionary Baptist Church. Loretta worked as a machine operator at both Kentucky Apparel, for 15 years, and Genesco.
Loretta loved to watch Gunsmoke, Little House on the Prarie, and the Bob Newhart Show. She enjoyed cookbooks and cooking. Her favorite songs were all the old hymns. Some of her favorite things were orange popsicles, shopping at Walmart, and walking with Jason. One of her favorite memories was when her nephew, John Page, got saved on her birthday and she often referred to it as the best birthday present she ever got.
Along with her husband, Mark Wheat, and father, Archie Hale, Loretta is survived by her daughter, Christy, wife of Jason Arnett, of Tompkinsville, KY; and three grandchildren: Madison, Hannah, and Emily Arnett. Loretta is also survived by her brother, Stevie, husband of Amy Hale, of Tompkinsville, KY, and her brother in law, Stephen Melton, of Moss, TN. Along with her mother, Ida Demple (Bow) Hale, Loretta was preceded in death by her sister, Greta Sue Melton.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, July 3rd and from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Saturday, July 4th at Yokley Trible Funeral Home in Tompkinsville, KY. Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, July 4th at Yokley Trible Funeral Home in Tompkinsville, KY with Bro. Eddie Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at Harlan’s Crossroads Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for donations to be made to the cemetery.
