Marie Zane Neagle Davenport of Campbellsville, Kentucky, formerly of Greensburg, daughter of the late Gerthie Clifton Neagle and Ava Jones Neagle, was born on Wednesday, January 13, 1937 in Greensburg and departed this life on Saturday, June 27, 2026 at the Taylor Regional Hospital. She was 89 years, 5 months, and 14 days of age.
She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of South Greensburg Baptist Church. She worked at Bandy’s and Oscar’s Restaurant as a cook and as an aide at Green Hill Manor.Marie was united in marriage to Hubert Nelson Davenport on April 4, 1959, who preceded her in death on April 12, 2000. She later remarried to Maxie G. Houk on October 19, 2002, who preceded her in death on May 9, 2013.
She is survived by her son: Doug Davenport of Greensburg; a daughter and son-in-law: DeDe Wiegel and Mike of Campbellsville; two grandchildren: Jade and Wesley Barnes of Brandenburg, Lucais and Olivia Davenport of Greensburg; seven great-grandchildren: Jaxon Curry, Zayne Curry, Andrew Barnes, Adam Barnes, Aaron Barnes, Kaitlyn Barnes, Hunter Curry; two great-great-grandchildren: Evelyn and Reagan; several step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Besides her parents and husbands, she was also preceded in death by a grandson: Johnathon Davenport in 2019; seven siblings: Jewell Neagle, Ted Neagle, Ruby Powell, Margaret Toms, Christal Franklin, Mickey Hood, and Jack Neagle.
The funeral service for Marie Zane Neagle Davenport will be conducted at 1 P.M., Central Time, Thursday, July 2, 2026 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home with burial to follow in Davenport Cemetery. Bro. James Walker officiating. Visitation is requested after 10 A.M., Central Time, Thursday at the funeral home until time of the service. The family has requested that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Davenport Cemetery Fund or Neagle Cemetery Fund which can be made at the funeral home.
