David Nelson Burnett, Bowling Green

David Nelson Burnett, age 66, passed away on June 23, 2026, at the Medical Center of Bowling Green. A native of Chicago, Illinois, he was born on June 7, 1960, to the late Frankie and Iva “York” Burnett.

David was preceded in death by his foster parents, Ed and Sylvia Fridy.

He is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Sande Burnett; his son, Stephen Burnett; his step-sons, Jason Talley (Kaitlyn) and Derek Talley (Amanda); his daughters, Kelly Russell and Jennifer Boards; and his step-daughter, Jennifer Croslin (Jeff). He is also survived by his sisters, Judy George (Pete) and Marie Cherry (Kelley); and his brother, Darrell Burnett (Sheila). His grandchildren include Kailie Hernandez, Andrew Fowler, Mikeal Fowler, Ferrari Boards, A’miyah Boards, Garrett Croslin, Madelyn Croslin, Eden Talley, Ember Talley, and Asher Talley. Several nieces and nephews, as well as many close friends who David considered family also survive.

David proudly served in the United States Marine Corps and continued his service with the National Guard for many years. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, camping, and fishing. He never missed an opportunity to travel and enjoy nature. Stubborn in the most endearing way, he absolutely loved entertaining those around him. When he wasn’t spending time with his grandchildren and family, you could be sure to find him at a local Mexican restaurant enjoying chips and salsa.

Services have been entrusted to J.C. Kirby & Son Lovers Lane Chapel. Visitation will be held at the Lovers Lane Chapel on Friday, June 26th from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 2:00 p.m.
