Earline Whitehead Hicks, 91, of Bowling Green, KY, passed away on Thursday, June 18, 2026 with family by her side. She was born on March 6, 1935 in Manila, AR to the late James and Blanche Whitehead. A woman of God, a kind mother, daughter, sister, friend and special Mamaw, Earline will be truly missed.
She was born and raised in Arkansas, where she grew up with Floyd Hicks, Jr. whom she married on September 18, 1955. They spent the next 55 years together and had three wonderful children. Earline and Floyd moved to Illinois in 1959, then to Bowling Green, KY in 1981 where they settled into their forever home. Earline and Floyd loved to travel together with the UAW, fishing in their free time and were both active members of Plum Springs Baptist Church for over 25 years. A woman of strong faith, she regularly attended Sunday School class at church.
Earline enjoyed word search puzzles, watching baseball and supporting the Braves team, bird watching, tending to her vegetable garden and playing card games. She also enjoyed cooking and baking and was known for her famous chocolate syrup, pancakes and pies. Earline was a spunky and sassy lady who put her family at the heart of everything. Her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren held a special place in her heart.
She is survived by two wonderful children, Darlene Brown (Mike), Keith Hicks (Tammy) and seven grandchildren, Michael Brown (Michelle), Heather Causey (Todd), Danielle Spurgeon (Ryan), Ryan Hicks, Josh Hicks (Brittany), Stephen Hicks (Tiffany) and Benjamin Hicks, great grandchildren, Tashauna, Tyler, Nevaeh, Gavin, Gage, Alyssa, Landon, Finnley, Carson, Mabry and four great-great grandchildren Nathaniel, Kinleigh, Greyson and Kade. She is also survived by a brother, several sisters, nephews, nieces and cousins. In addition to her parents, Earline is preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Floyd Hicks, Jr., her son Tim Hicks and several brothers and sisters. The family would like to thank her caregiver for the past three years for all she has done, Cheryl Cooper and Earline’s long time best friend Diane Childers.
The family will accept visitors on Tuesday, June 23rd at J.C. Kirby & Son Lovers Lane Chapel from 4-7PM and on Wednesday, June 24th from 9-11AM with a service at 11AM. Internment will follow in Bowling Green Gardens.
