David Lee Thompson, Mammoth Cave

David Lee Thompson, age 70 of Mammoth Cave departed this life Friday, June 12th at Baptist Health in Elizabethtown with his family by his side.

David was an auto mechanic and developed several businesses during his life. He worked hard for his family and tried to instill in them strong work ethics. David was saved at Cave Hill Baptist Church at a young age and remained a member there. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. David was born on August 8, 1955 in Hardin County to the late Owen & Zuleima Thompson.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded by a son Joshua Thompson, a granddaughter Leanna Marie Thompson, a brother Charlie Thompson and a sister Mary Lou Burnett. David is survived by three daughters Christie Thompson(Josh), Heather Thompson(Phil) and Nicole Lawrence(Adrian); four sons Jeremy Thompson, Jason Thompson(Deborah), Justin Thompson and Jacob Thompson; six sisters Helena Chapman(Don), Jean Bernett(Bob), Juanita Sullivan(Freeman), Geraldine Downey(Richard), Janet Douglas(Dick) and Irene Jordan; two brothers Owen Thompson, Jr(Tina) and Danny Thompson(Linda); 14 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. David’s legacy lives on through his family, extended family and his friends whose lives he touched throughout the years. He will be remembered for his hard work and accomplishments and will be deeply missed and cherished in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

The funeral service for David Lee Thompson will be 2pm Tuesday, June 16th in the chapel of Sego Funeral Home with burial in the Cub Run Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 2-8pm and after 10am Tuesday at the Sego Funeral Home.
