Barren County fell behind, rallied to a lead, then eventually lost at Allen County-Scottsville on Thursday night, 6-5.
The Trojanettes trailed 2-0 headed into the top of the fifth inning. There they slapped together a two-out rally to take a 4-2 lead.
Kyra Moore started the rally with a single, then moved to second when Lily Elmore hit a ball that was misplayed. Kyra Moore and Elmore both advanced a base on a passed ball before Josey Moore drew a walk to load the bases.
That set up Norah Shirley for a go-ahead grand slam.
The lead did not las long. In the bottom of the fifth, the Lady Patriots hit two, 2-run homers to lead 6-4 after five innings.
Barren got a run back in the top of the sixth, but could not finish the full comeback. Addie Wheeler led off with a double. She scored when Adley Cunningham hit a two-out double.
The Trojanettes loaded the bases with a Kyra Moore walk and an Elmore single, but a fly out ended the threat.
Shea Bogue pitched the distance in the circle. She allowed six hits, struck out six, and walked two.
Elmore and Shirley each posted two hits to lead Barren at the plate. Wheeler, Cunningham, Kyra Moore and Khloe Westmoreland each added a hit.
The loss dropped Barren to 2-2 in 15th District action. Both losses have been to Allen County-Scottsville. The Trojanettes are 8-5 overall. They return to action Tuesday at Glasgow at 5 p.m. in another 15th District contest.
