Barren County took a shot on the chin from the No.1 team in the state Wednesday. The Trojanettes fell at South Warren, 11-0, in softball in five innings. The undefeated Lady Spartans have not had a game go a full seven innings this season.

South Warren took control of the game early with three runs in the bottom of the first inning, and six more in the bottom of the second. After that, Barren settled in and had a chance to score a run in the top of the fourth.

With two outs, Josey Moore drew a walk, then Khloe Westmoreland singled to put runners at first and second. The Trojanettes were unable to get one across the plate as the next batter struck out.

In the top of the fifth, Barren threatened again. Lily Elmore nailed a two-out single, then Hadley Elkins followed with a single. But a line out ended the threat.

The Lady Spartans ended the game with two runs in the bottom of the fifth.

The Trojanettes posted three hits in the game, one each from Elmore, Elkins and Westmoreland.

Shea Bogue suffered the loss in the circle. She allowed 11 hits, walked four and struck out one.
