Power has been disrupted for areas near Leslie Avenue in Glasgow, and the roadway is closed.
A vehicle crashed into a utility pole near the intersection of Leslie Avenue and Saint Marys Court. One person was transported from the scene, according to Major Terry Flatt, the public information officer for the Glasgow Police Department.
No other information was available on the condition of the person.
Glasgow Electric Plant Board personnel was on the scene working to replace the pole as of 3 p.m. Thursday.
“The area that will be out the longest is Leslie Avenue between South Green Street and Maplewood Place, with the entirety of St. Marys Court and Jo Ann Drive being out,” Aaron Russell with the electric plant board stated in a text.
“The pole was destroyed, so our crew is having to dig and set a new one,” he added. “That all has to be done before any equipment can be moved, which is why these types of accidents can lead to somewhat prolonged outages for those in the immediate area.”
Flatt said the roadway could be closed a few hours, depending on how long it takes for the plant board crew to finish its work.
