Mar 16, 2026 | 7:50 AM
Norma Haas Henry Luke, 96 of Glasgow, passed away on Friday in Oxford, Indiana.  Her story starts with the marriage of John Hass to Deloris Taylor. She arrived on August 25th, 1929, in Greensburg, Indiana. The tiny family soon moved to Madison, Indiana, and she found she soon had 3 sisters and a baby brother. Her working career started in high school at Ingles Rogers Drug Store. As a stock help and clerk, she filled in at the lunch counter where a persistent patron, William Henry, convinced her to be his bride in 1946. Robert arrived in 1950, followed by Margaret in 1953 and Gregory in 1954. The marriage ended in divorce in 1965. Working two jobs to raise three children filled her life until all had left the nest. She transferred to Plymouth, Indiana, with Indiana Bell Engineering, and a co-worker was insistent that she meet her brother. This culminated in a wedding to Truman Luke in July of 1973.  After moving to Glasgow in 1986, Norma served as a tutor for 20 years for Kentucky Literacy and Adult Basic Education.   Norma was crowned Mrs. Senior Kentucky in 1995, and returned to her education in 2001 at Western Kentucky University to receive an Associate Degree in Humanities and a Bachelor’s degree in Behavioral Science. She founded Willing Hands and Hearts to show support for battered women and children, and in 2003, was a recipient of the Jefferson Award for outstanding community Service. There are hundreds of lives touched by Norma’s numerous contributions. In 2005, she lost Truman after 32 years of marriage.  She left a legacy of 3 children, 7 grandchildren, nieces, nephews and several great-grandchildren. Norma is survived by her son, Robert Henry, of Oxford, a niece, Janet Jones, of Madison, and her Greenlawn Drive neighbors in Glasgow. A service is not planned at this time.  A private burial of her ashes will take place at the Happy Valley Memorial Gardens in Glasgow.
