The Glasgow Lady Scotties could not overcome their first-quarter offensive struggle in a 63-56 loss to Butler County.
It took the Lady Scotties nearly five minutes to score their first bucket against the Lady Bears at Edmonson County on Monday. Despite that, they only trailed 12-6 at the end of the first period.
Glasgow posted a 19-17 advantage in the second period and trailed 29-25 at halftime. The Lady Scotties outscored the Lady Bears, 12-8, in the third period and the game was tied 37-37 after three.
Butler County opened the final period on a run that Glasgow could not overcome. The foul line proved to be decisive. Butler held a 32-16 scoring advantage on foul shots, and shot 27 more freebies than Glasgow.
Reese England led the Lady Scotties with 23 points, while Jayla Craine added 13 and Jakylie Green finished with 12.
The Lady Scotties play host Edmonson County today at 5:30 p.m.
