William Depp “Billy” Martin, 79, of Scottsville died Wednesday, July 2, 2025, in Glasgow. The Etoile native was a farmer, a Special Olympics volunteer coach, a former employee of J. & L. Marker and a member of Grider Memorial Baptist Church. He was a son of the late Tom Martin and Daisy Lavanna Key Martin.
He is survived by his longtime companion, Barbara Scott of Scottsville; a son, Willie Martin, and wife Patty of Glasgow; a stepson, Donnie Scott of Scottsville; a stepdaughter, Melissa Scott of Scottsville; three grandchildren, Braxton Whitney, Jezzie Whitney and Cassie Whitney; two great-grandchildren, Hazelee Maynard and Samuel Whitney; five nieces, Kathy Spradlin of Glasgow; and Vickie Johnson (Paul); Pat Witcher (Louie); Lisa Meador (Steve) and Tina Ploughe (Bryan), all of Scottsville; three nephews, James Thomas Martin Jr. of Glasgow, and Joe David Martin (Penny) and Russell Davis (Patricia), both of Scottsville;
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Victoria Martin; two brothers, James Thomas Martin and Virgil Martin; and a sister, Lizzie Davis.
Funeral service is at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 6, 2025, at Goad Funeral Home in Scottsville and burial in Allen County Memorial Gardens. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. Saturday and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations for funeral expenses at Goad Funeral Home.
