Mary Alice Vaughn Groce, 82, of Lucas, KY entered into eternal rest on December 10, 2021. Mary was born on July 26, 1939, in Detroit, MI to the late Herman and Alice Vaughn. She was the former owner of Mom’s Place Bakery in Glasgow, KY. She was fondly known to all for the nearly 30 years of service in various roles at Walmart. She met everyone with a smile and even a prayer with a stranger if it was needed. She worked until she retired at the age of 80 because she loved meeting people.

Mary met the love of her life, William Earl Groce, while working in Texas at a boarding house. He came through while working on the pipeline and never left her side again. They were married on January 23, 1962, and spent their early years in Port Huron, MI before returning with their children to Will’s hometown in KY. Their love and care for each other for almost 60 years of marriage has influenced all their family.

Along with her loving husband, William Earl, she is survived by two sons, Bill Groce and David Groce (Shelly). One daughter, Jeri Huffman (Nate). Seven grandchildren, Kari Pitcock (Daniel), Jeni Honeycutt (Brad), Josh Groce (Julie), Elizabeth Alkaabi (Mahmood), Haley Stewart (Christopher), Holly Harper (Ethon), and Katie Huffman (Haden). Two brothers, Frank Vaughn (Marilyn) of FL, Jim Vaughn (Joyce) of MA. One sister, Wanda Horning (Ken) of MO.

She was preceded in death by two daughters, Mary Jo Pitcock (David) and Teri Rae Groce. Two brothers, Owen Vaughn (Ludy) of CA and Bill Vaughn (Pat) of GA, Sue Vaughn Gregg of MI and Millie Null (James) of KY.
