GLASGOW, Ky. — A final bill was submitted to the Glasgow Electric Plant Board Feb. 22 from Frost Brown Todd Attorneys in Lexington. The bill totaled $59,187.

The Glasgow EPB dropped in early February a lawsuit against the Tennessee Valley Authority. Those lawyers were hired to litigate the energy provider.

William Ray, former superintendent, sent a letter Feb. 12 informing the attorneys to discontinue their work. The letter asked the firm to submit a final invoice, which was responsive to the Board’s request that they send it.

The firm billed the EPB Jan. 29 for services rendered since they were hired in late December. That bill was worth $8,959.50.

The total legal fees paid out to Frost Brown Todd Attorneys is $68,146. That sum does not include other legal fees associated with court proceedings held last year due to illegal meetings.

A WCLU News investigation found the amount paid to attorneys since May 2020 totaled $84,440.52.

Another invoice was noted in a recent open records request. That invoice came from the Kentucky League of Cities, and it totaled $3,834.90. The description of services was redacted.

The latest fees brings the sum of all attorney’s fees paid by the GEPB to $147,462.42.
