GLASGOW, Ky. — Interlocal agreements, tax dollars and rabies are among the things on this afternoon’s Barren County fiscal court agenda.
The court is expected to discuss an interlocal agreement among the City of Cave City, City of Glasgow and Barren County fiscal court.
At the last Glasgow City Council meeting, council members had a lengthy discussion about the agreement, ultimately voting to postpone receiving money from both the county and Cave City.
An actual copy of the agreement was not on hand, and council member Chasity Lowery asked if the one-time payment from those entities will continue year after year. Glasgow Mayor Harold Armstrong said they would.
It appears, that is not the case.
A copy of the interlocal agreement describes the funding for fiscal year 2021-2022. Barren County is noted to give $50,000 and Cave City gives $20,000.
The agreement states the money shall be used to give Call Center employees a $2 per hour raise in that year. As far as future contributions, both will give similar contributions each fiscal year, though no specific amount is listed.
The court will talk taxes as they look at the numbers due for 2021.
The county will receive $3.6 million; the Agriculture Extension Office will receive $486,000 and the Mary Wood Weldon Memorial Library will receive $823,668.
As for area school districts, Caverna Independent Schools will receive just over $1 million; Glasgow Independent will get $6.3 million; and Barren County Schools will get just over $10.7 million dollars.
The fiscal court sets its own tax rate, as do the other entities.
Also on the agenda is an ordinance requiring rabies vaccinations for every cat or dog in the county by the time they are four months old. The ordinance also requires a booster shot be given when the initial vaccine’s potency has expired.
The meeting is scheduled Tuesday at 3 p.m. in the Barren County fiscal court chambers on the third floor of the Barren County Government Center.
The meeting is available online at Barren County Kentucky on YouTube.
