Hermon Carlous Yates, age 83, of Horse Cave, KY, entered into rest Wednesday, August 25, 2021, at T. J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow, KY. He retired from Metcalfe County School system as a bus driver with over 30 years of service and was a lifetime farmer. He was a member of the Old Blue Springs Baptist Church where he served as a Trustee for many years.
He was the son of the late John Yates and the late Annie Brewer Yates. He was also preceded in death by a brother William B. Yates and two sisters, Arneva Henderson and Orene Waller.
He is survived by his wife, Eva Thompson Yates; three daughters, Denise Curry (Bobby), Horse Cave, KY, Melissa Yates (Bryant Thomas, Fiance), Greenwood, SC, Bianca Yates, Louisville, KY; one son, Dr. Carlous Yates , Lexington, KY; five grandchildren, Zander Yates, Myla Curry, Nevaeh Thomas, Bryant Thomas Jr., MyKenzie Thomas; four sisters, Naomi Mills, Annie Pearline Mason, Veachel Hendrickson, Emmerline Hardin (Bernard); one sister-in-law, Florine Yates; several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews.
The family has chosen to have public services however due to heightened risk of COVID-19 epxosure, the family requests all visitors to please wear a mask
The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM CT, Friday, August 27, 2021 and from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM CT, Saturday, August 28, 2021 at Old Blue Springs Baptist Church in Knob Lick. Funeral service will be 1:00 PM, Saturday, August 28, 2021 at Old Blue Springs Baptist Church with Rev.William Fishback and Rev. Paul Thompson officiating. Interment will be at Yates Cemetery, Savoyard, KY.
