GLASGOW, Ky. – A Tompkinsville woman is dead after a Friday crash.

Kentucky State Police said a collision had occurred before 1:30 p.m. on Friday near mile marker eight along the Cumberland Parkway. Heavy rains had begun to fall before the crash.

An investigation reveals that a separate collision had occured and the eastbound lanes were stopped. A 2005 refrigerated box truck was traveling eastbound. That truck attempted to swerve to avoid crashing into stopped traffic, but the truck hit another vehicle.

Hiu Lin, 51, of Mason, Ohio, was driving the box truck. Lin’s truck crashed into a 2012 Chevrolet pickup truck, which Daphnie Woodrum, 40, of Stanford, was driving.

The box truck continued to go along the wet roadway and struck a 2010 Kia SUV. Police said Ruth Crowe, 74, of Tompkinsville, was in that vehicle.

Crowe was pronounced dead at the scene, and Lin was taken to T.J. Samson Hospital for treatment of his injuries. Woodrum was uninjured.
