Charles William “Bill” Hutchinson, 87, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 26, 2026. A Louisville native born on June 19, 1939, he spent more than half of his life living in the Plano community.
He and Nancy Ellen (Atkins) Hutchinson, his bride of more than 61 years, had four children and moved from Louisville to Warren County after he was hired as a pipefitter in 1981 at General Motors’ Corvette plant. He retired from there in 2007. Bill was also a veteran, having served as a mechanic for the U.S. Army’s 100th Training Division at Fort Knox during the early 1960s. He was a member as well of Bowling Green’s Holy Spirit Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife and their children: Terri Lynn (Brian) Wilkerson of Georgetown, KY; Charles David (Leslie) Hutchinson of Alvaton; Joseph Patrick (Amy) Hutchinson of Glasgow; and Mark Daniel (Chanda) Hutchinson of Glasgow. Other survivors include five granddaughters, four grandsons, two stepgranddaughters, and sister Kathy DuCoff Vincent of Louisville. His children and grandchildren called him Pa, and many family friends also lovingly referred to Bill and Nancy as Mom and Dad and were loved in return. Preceding him in death were his mother, Virginia Mae Vandiver Hutchinson DuCoff; father, Charles Edgar Hutchinson; stepfather, William Frederick DuCoff, Jr.; sister, Melverna “Peach” Russ; brother, Douglas DuCoff; and grandson, Knox Hutchinson.
A private burial will be held on Sept. 30 at J. C. Kirby Funeral Home in Bowling Green. Services are in the care of J.C. Kirby & Son Lovers Lane Chapel.
