Donald Cortez Emberton, 81, of Tompkinsville, KY, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, September 25th. Donald was born in Tompkinsville, KY, on January 5, 1945, a son of the late Virchia (Walker) and Leonard Emberton. On September 11, 1965, he married Marye Pickerell, who preceded him in death.
Donald was a 1965 graduate of Tompkinsville High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. Donald retired from Eaton/Dana Corporation and had previously worked at Keys Manufacturing and the Pepsi Plant for 30 years. In his spare time, Donald enjoyed fishing, playing cards, and spending time with his family. He was a member of Lyon’s Chapel Church of Christ.
Donald is survived by his two daughters, Tracy Hagan, and husband, Stevie, of Tompkinsville, KY, and Donya Pedigo, and husband, Chris of Tompkinsville, KY; two grandchildren, Jonathan Pedigo and Ethan Pedigo; and one great-grandchild, Paisley Pedigo. He is also survived by two sisters, Christine Bitner and Mary Davis, both of Tompkinsville, KY; and two brothers, Paul Emberton and his wife, Joletta, and James Emberton and his wife, Flora, all of Tompkinsville, KY. Other than his parents, Leonard and Virchia Emberton, and his wife, Marye Pickerell Emberton, he was preceded in death by his baby brother, Elmore Emberton, and sister, Geraldine Dugard.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, September 29th, at Yokley Trible Funeral Home in Tompkinsville, KY, with burial to follow at Mt. Poland Cemetery. Military rites will be performed by Glasgow DAV Chapter 20. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, September 28th, and again from 8:00 AM until 2:00 PM on Tuesday, September 29th, at Yokley Trible Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations in Donald’s memory may be made to Mt. Poland Cemetery.
