Our precious baby boy, Blaze Shoemake, was called home to Jesus, leaving behind a legacy of strength, faith, and love far greater than the number of days he was given on this earth.
From the very beginning, Blaze showed us what it meant to be a fighter. His life was filled with challenges most will never understand, but through every procedure, every difficult day, and every uncertain moment, he continued to show incredible strength.
But Blaze’s story was never only about his medical complexities. It was about the beautiful baby behind them. He was deeply loved, endlessly prayed for, and treasured beyond words. He was a son, a little brother, a grandson, and a blessing who forever changed the hearts of everyone who knew his story.
Blaze taught us more in his short life than we could have learned in a lifetime. He taught us to cherish the smallest moments, to find joy in the middle of hardship, to fight fiercely for the people we love, and above all, to trust God even when we do not understand His plans.
Thousands of prayers surrounded our sweet boy. His name traveled farther than we ever imagined, touching the lives of people who never even had the privilege of meeting him. Through Blaze, people prayed harder, loved deeper, held their babies tighter, and witnessed a faith that remained even through the hardest days.
While our hearts are shattered that we cannot hold him here, we find comfort knowing that Blaze is completely healed. There are no hospital rooms in Heaven. No machines, no tubes, no procedures, no pain. Our baby is whole, free, and safe in the arms of Jesus.
Blaze’s life may have been short, but it was never small. His purpose was mighty. His impact will continue through every person who carries his story, every family helped in his honor, and every act of love done in his name.
We will spend the rest of our lives missing him, loving him, speaking his name, and carrying his legacy forward.
Blaze Strong wasn’t just something we said. It became who we are.
Until we get to hold you again, sweet boy, run free in Heaven. We know Jesus is holding you for us.
His survivors include his parents, Dalton and Sydney Shoemake; brother, Rowdy Shoemake; paternal grandparents, Jennifer & Paul Shoemake; maternal grandmother, Rachelle Sanford (Wes); maternal grandfather, Jason Gossom (Jessica); uncle, Drew Donoho (McKenna) and cousin Archer Donoho.
Visitation will be Thursday from 2-7 p.m. at Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Bowling Green Chapel. His family will have a private graveside service.
