Lillian Mae Taylor, Summer Shade

Jun 25, 2026 | 10:02 AM

Lillian Mae Taylor, 71 of Summer Shade, KY passed away Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at TJ Samson Hospital. She was born January 26, 1955, to the late Leslie Herbert and Viriginia Marshall Taylor. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her caregiver Karen Cooksey.

Lillian found happiness in the simple things that made life beautiful. She loved humming along to gospel music, enjoying a cold Dr Pepper and eating her favorite Little Debbie snack cakes, feeling the comfort of the dogs cuddled up beside her. She could spend hours watching the birds outside and listening to the laughter of children playing. One of her favorite things was going for car rides, taking in the world around her.

Born with cerebral palsy and nonverbal throughout her life, she taught those around her that a voice is not measured by words alone. Through her smile, expressions, and the love she shared, she communicated more than many ever could. She showed strength, patience, joy, and an appreciation for life’s smallest blessings. She touched countless lives and left an imprint on the hearts of everyone who knew her.

She is survived by her two sisters Barbara Jean (Steve) Glass of Summer Shade, and Debbie Hensley of Glasgow, nieces and nephews Bradley (Donna Jo) Glass of Summer Shade, Andrea (Dakota) Pierce of Glasgow, Tyler (Sarah) Hensley of Park City and Taylor (Briley) Welch of Horse Cave, great nieces and nephews Thomas Glass, Jenna Glass, Autumn Pierce, Addalyn Welch and Hayden Hensley, and one aunt Nellie Taylor. She is also survived by a host of cousins and friends.

Funeral services for Ms. Taylor will be held at 4:00 PM Thursday, June 25, 2026, at Butler Funeral Home in Edmonton with burial in the Buck Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until time of the service here at the funeral home.

Butler Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted to the care of Ms. Taylor.
