James H. Johnson, 79, of Smiths Grove and formerly of Plano, passed away March 11, 2026 at the Shanti Niketan Hospice House in Glasgow.
The Edmonson County native was born February 8, 1947 to the late Homer O. and Mary Maude Willis Johnson. James was a member of Oak Grove United Baptist Church. He retired from DESA International as a Production Manager after 43 years. Outside of work, James loved anything outdoors including hunting, fishing, camping, and running bird dogs. He was an avid Celtics fan. He and Kim enjoyed watching the games together. He loved life and had a great sense of humor.
Survivors include his life partner, Kim Collins of Smiths Grove; his bonus children, Kashua Moore (Kendra) and Kara Beth Pedigo (Justin); grandchildren, Kendallyn, Kaison, Emory, Ellie, and Kolson; and many cousins and special friends.
A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, March 16 at the J.C. Kirby & Son Lovers Lane Chapel with visitation from 10 a.m. until service time.
