Kentucky State Police are investigating the death of a Horse Cave man.
Post 3 Public Information Officer Katan Parker said John Ray of Horse Cave died Monday, Feb. 23, at University of Louisville Hospital. Parker told Glasgow News 1 that charges would be pursued.
He did not specify whether they would be pursued against Brandon L. Wease, who was arrested on unrelated charges on Valentine’s Day after he was allegedly found to be driving Ray’s car, which was missing from a home on Vial Street in Horse Cave.
The investigation is ongoing an being led by detective Jordan Matthews, according to a state police press release.
Wease, 43, was arrested Feb. 14 after he allegedly fled police in a silver Buick Regal that belonged to Ray, who was assaulted at a home off Vial Street, according to court records filed in Hart County. He was arraigned in Hart County District Court on Feb. 16 on charges of possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, first-degree criminal mischief, first-degree possession of a controlled substance, first-degree fleeing or evading police, both on foot and by vehicle, and first-degree wanton endangerment of a police officer.
Kentucky State Police were called to the scene of a potential assault Feb. 14. There state police found that a vehicle belonging to Ray was missing, and that the suspect was believed to be driving the Buick.
